Step 5: Parting Line Creation

In this section we will learn how to create an automatic parting line that takes into account an existing slider geometry.

push this icon to start the Parting Line creation. We will focus in this tutorial only on the settings we need; you may refer to the online help to get more details about this powerful feature.

You may hit Preview immediately: thanks to the definition of the PULL_DIRECTION, all the required information for this feature is already filled in.

Preview will highlight for you different edges or "limits" on the model; we will agree with most of them, but, obviously, the logo will generate problems.

Define now the Slides option from the feature Dialog, and select the volume geometry we have created in the previous step but ONLY THE SLIDER (not the four cylinders). Hit Preview again and notice that the logo curves are removed from the calculation. Press OK to validate the feature.

The new feature SILH_CURVE_1 is added to the model tree.
